Question about midarm or longarm sitdown machines

There is not much room between the needle and the edge of the table. When I am sewing part of the quilt is over the edge and gets caught, which affects my stitch length and my ability to manuver the quilt. My question is what can I do about this? I am getting so frustrated. :cry:
