    She doesn't clip. You undo both sides of the seam allowance and then you turn the side either clock wise or counter clockwise but they must all lay in the direction.

    I don't clip the thread. I just push the seams opposite each other and the last little stitch or two usually pop open on their own. It's amazing how flat your centers are this way.

    This issue has kept me from making pinwheels, as i am worried that the intersection will be more likely to come undone later. Does it really survive a lot of love and washing?

    I also do not clip the threads at the intersection, but only undo a couple of stitches in the 1/4 inch seam allowance. Charlottequilts, I have not had any come apart--yet!!

    GailG, the 'pressing to the dark' is not a hard and fast rule. With a dark/light 4 patch, and following the rule that all seams should be pressed to the dark, you CAN'T 'swirl' your seams and will end up with a big bump in the center. I think it is more important to have a smooth center.
