Hi. A while back (I can't remember) there were several comments about buying the blades for the rotary cutters at Harbor Freight can someone tell me what the name of the blades were and if they work? We went in to a store yesterday and were unable to find any that even resembled a rotary cutting blade but I may have been looking in the wrong section. The lady I asked sent me to the wall where they have blades for the saws. I told her I was a quilter and we were planning on taking over Harbor Freight for our rotary cutting needs. She just laughed and looked at me sort of funny.

While I was on the quest of rotary blades I happen to come across a don't slip and fall shower gripper for $5.00. It sure resembled the grippers that we use to hold the rulers while cutting. Told my dh that and he looked at it and said that just might work. Has anyone tried these before? It has the release cups and all just like the large gripper but for a lot less money.

On the gripper, it's sure worth a try for $5! I found a couple different sizes of grippers at Princess Auto that are sold as 'dent pullers' - these also work great! They only have a single suction cup, but for some of my smaller rulers, that really works well.

Thanks for the replies. I am going back to Harbor Freight next week I will check again. Funny thing is that right next door to this place is the quilt shop. DH enjoys being at one store and me at the other but I really enjoyed going into Harbor Freight too.

When you say the small gripper about how long is it?

I have several quilty acquaintances that buy from Harbor all the time. The blades are called 'carpet blades' and work great. They say they last forever. The Gripper is also very good.. Go for it. If there's not one close to you, they have a website..

I've looked at the gripper things and came to the conclusion that, for me, it wasn't going to help the ruler to not slip. I've since purchased a couple of spring clamps from Home Depot which really helped a lot. But even better than that, again, for me, are the invisigrip dots on the four corners of my ruler. That puppy never slips now!
