    Default Question about yo-yos

Does anyone use yo-yos for projects but hate making them?

About 6 months ago I took up making yo-yos as a means to
"kill time" when my mom was in the hospital. By the time she
passed (about 2 weeks later) I was totally hooked on making
    the blasted little things.

I do use them in some projects, but at the rate I am making
them which can be from 5-50+ per day and in several sizes/
shapes it is becoming quite clear that I may never get around
to using the majority of them.

Now for the real question I wanted to ask.

Do you think there is a "market" for pre-made yo-yo's in a variety
    of colors/prints?

I DON'T plan to stop making them because I find that it is relaxing
for me to make while laying in bed watching tv, waiting for Dr. appt.
during my lunch break at work (when I remember to take one) etc...

Thanks in advance for any replies.

there are people who make those cute yo-yo dolls, animals, toys---maybe check some of the doll/toy/craft boards to offer your yo-yo's ... they seem to be making a come-back- with a few of the big magazines featuring yo-yo quilts again-so someone is bound to want yours instead of making their own. but I have seen more yo-yo clowns, dolls & animal toys than quilts. good luck- i'm one of those people who loves to make them- but seldom uses them for anything-unless something comes up- so, I just make what I need- recently made a tote bag that was covered with yo-yo's for someone who requested it.

I have often seen them for sale on ebay. Someone in our quilt guild used them hanging off the bottom edge of kitchen curtains she made, and they were totally adorable! The yo yo's really "made" them. You can also make a yo yo bedspread by tacking them together where they meet the ones on each of four sides. Small holes are left in between them, which beautifully show off a colored sheet or other fabric placed underneath to compliment the colors in the bedspread.

At a recent bazar I saw a tablecloth and a beadspread made using yo-yos in a variety of solids and prints. They were really awesome. I hate making yo-yos so if I were going to do a project where I need more than 10, I would try to find a place to buy them pre-made.

I was going to suggest eBay also. I have a friend who buys a lot of quilt kits and precuts on eBay, it wouldn't hurt to check it out.

I'm glad you were able to find something to keep your hands busy. So sorry about your mom, I hope her passing was peaceful.

With the yo-yo dolls. Put them on a thin elastic young children love the stretchy legs and nothing can harm them.
I have seen them adorning handbags . They also make centres for flowers on wall quilts.
This is something I have thought about but never have time. Could you make one which does not fasten tight in centre but has a small section at the top. Different fabric inside. A circular hickey nut or faux cathedral window.
You could in my mind join as all different outside shapes.

I have found it a good way to use up scraps , try cutting the circle in half put face together and tack around the edge running stitch across the bottom , presto a leaf or petal , I have done lots of these also .
