    I was reading on board quilters donating quilts to children hospital and most said they birth their quilts, what do u mean by BIRTH a quilt, new to this, Tks.

    It is to avoiding doing binding. Your layer the quilt right side front of quilt to right side of backing. Place the batting on the back then sew around the outside of the quilt leaving a wide enough opening. Then you turn the quilt right side out thru the opening. That is why it is called birthing. Eleanor Burns probably has a funny video on her website.

    Yes, it is a quick way. You quilt after you sew back to front and turn.

    if they allow you to tie the quilts, this would be a fast way.

    think it means sewing it inside out, flipping it.. no binding needed.

    I sort of thought that was what it meant, never heard it called birthing before but understand why it is called that. tk.u for your help.
