Many of you have made the Bow Tucks Tote and I have a question. On the first one I made, I quilted a grid patten on the lining and the contrasting bottom of the purse, and then just a few top to bottom lines (following the material) for the main body of the bag. Now I want to make another one and am using a striped material (multiple light colors) for the main fabric and would rather not quilt it. Have any of you made it without quilting the main body fabric and if so, how did it work out? OH, and did you all use the fusible batting that the pattern called for?

Using all the fusible certainly makes the bag sturdier, but at my LQS (the one that closed forever last month :cry: ) I saw some that they made with just one layer + they did not quilt the outside.
They looked...ok...but they were not at all special looking IMHO.
I always use all the fusible and quilt all-in & out.

Thanks, I believe I will quilt in and out, it does make it look special, but my first bag didn't have enough body to suit me, and I recently made a bag where the instructions called for headliner foam. It was very light weight, but gave the bag a little more body and more professional look. I was just wondering if the fusible part was important (like if you couldn't get fusible could you use regular batting).

I have the fusible web on lining and exterior. I have made one without quilting and it is just fine. Gets used every day by a teenager.

I think it is just a matter of what you like. But if you don't use fusible you should quilt, it will hold up better and look more finished (batting will probably sag over time and useage)
