Question Question for industrial machine users

I just purchased an Artisan CE618-1SC machine which is the same as a Consew. This is an industrial walking foot machine with a lockstitch. I know you can sew leathers and fabrics with it. Just wanted to know if anyone has quilted their quilts on one. I just got it home and read on the internet you can go as small as a schmetz size 14 needle on it so my mind got to thinking.....

I used an industrial machine once for piecing leather. Wasn't quilting at the time. Just make up a practice sandwich and have a go at it. I am not sure if your lockstitch is like a serge stitch because you won't be able to machine quilt with that type of stitch.

I'm thinking I will pick up an extra bobbin case so I can run regular thread thru it without messing up the tension on the one that runs the heavy thread for leather, canvas, etc.

I see them on Craig's list all the time and wondered if you couldn't quilt on them. Let us know how it goes.

I have a Consew mini walker and I've never even thought about quilting with it. Now I'm wondering why not?
