I have a Pfaff. Use a good stabilizer, an open toe foot, and do a test piece. Are you using an embroidery thread in the bobbin?

On mine, stitch with 5 sometimes wished it went wider, length at .05 or nearwhere button holemarker is, do use stabilizer, tension on 3-4, foot pressure #3
But this all may depend on the model.
    Good Luck

Thanks to your great suggestions, I have been adding colorful fabric squares to a sweatshirt ... I am making a jacket. It is working really well. I am not really good at keeping the satin stitch even, but the problem is above the machine ... with me. I am getting better. By the time I get all this sewn, I should have figured it out. I really appreciate your help. It is wonderful to have such a great source of information.
