    First off, you have a beautiful quilt there. Second, you are the designer. If you want to combine machine and hand quilting in the same quilt...go for it. It'a an interesting and creative way to finish your quilt. There are no rules in quilting and if there are..they are made to be broken.

    ooooh! what a fantastic project! well done!

    i have often machie quilted the body of the quilt and then hand quilted the border. always worked for me, and i get the satisfaction of hand quilting without the drag of a massive, multi-year project.

    can't wait to see this one all stitched up!

    I see no reason to do both - or all 3 for that matter - in a single quilt. As others have said, it's your quilt - do what pleases you.
