What needle do you use when you do embroidery on knit fabric?

Do you use a ballpoint needle? Is a ballpoint needle sharp enough to do all of those fast stitches with an embroidery unit?

I haven't used a ballpoint on knits, but now I am wondering if I should have...

Ballpoint. A "sharp" will cut the threads in the knit and possibly cause holes and or runs in the material. Hope that helps.

I use Organ Needles that are Sharps H80/12 that actually say "Embroidery Needles" on the package.

Yes, but not all embroidery needles are recommended for all fabrics.

I use ball points for knits - it makes a huge difference. A sharp will cut the threads and cause little holes - and yup, I've found that out first hand..

I use sharps for everything else.
I get my needles from Discount Embroidery Supply - and I use the same needles in my sewing machine as well which is super sweet.

I change my needles out every 4 or 5 projects. A needle that has a lot of time on it starts to embroider out kind of icky..
