I am 51, but I started when I was in college. Once I got married and had children there was no time for quilting, but I picked it up again once my kids didn't need such close supervision. The fact that most of us are older is not a reflection of quilting being an "old ladies sport" but rather a reflection of the time in life when we can devote the time to it.

75 in October. I thought I would be the oldest, but 9 are older than me so far.

I find it interesting that we "mature" folks are computer literate.

Sorry but my addition to the thread will bring the average up a bit.....I'm 77 in years,

some days I feel it but there are other days when I will challenge any younger lad or lassie.

It's all in the mind........and the joints !!!!!!!!!

    64. Made my first quilt at age 24. My grandson will be 16 next month and made his first quilt at age 9, the same year this photo was takekn. His 3 sisters were ages 8, 6 & 4 and they all made twin size ragg quilts together. Camp Nana was open 24/7 when they were small.
A friend once told me that age is a number. Pick one you loved and stick with it. Best year of my life was 46..empty nest, business doing exceptionally well, on the golf course 3 times each week, new car every other year. So this past birthday I celebrated the 18th anniversary of my 46th birthday. And yes, quilter's play golf.
