Default Questions on SID and FMQ

First, if you stitch in the ditch, do you backstitch?
If you are FMQ, (stippling), when you start off and you
do a few stitches in place, does this "tie off" your stitches?
    Thanks in advance.

yes I backstitch and then sometime bury the thread ends
check to see how going in place a few times works Sometimes it will tie off the threads and other times it wont.
I go back and forth for a couple stitches. I believe this holds the ends better. but again you might consider burying the tails.

When I SID I take a few very small stitches to anchor my stitching, then SID as usual. I do this at the end too. I do what you said about taking a few stitches in place to ahchor when I FMQ.

With both SID and FMQ, I pull the bobbin thread up before starting. I do not backstitch when SID; but do take 3 stitches in place when starting and ending FMQ. I take the threads to the back with a "cheater" needle, tie them in a square knot and bury the threads in the batting. Maybe I don't need to do all that; but it works for me.

That's how I do it too.

I have a button on one machine that does a fantastic job of this. My newer machine does not have this and I miss it.

I just make my first and last stitches very small when I Sid, like others have said. It took me about 20 quilts to figure that out. Before then I back stitched, which worked also...
