Quillow pattern ideas
I belong to a quilt guild in Mountain, WI and they are going to have a sewing day the beginning of January to make Quillows (quilts that fold into a pillow) for donation to an abuse shelter.
What ideas do you have that might be fun or different?
So far I've thought of:
1. Solid yellow with a large black chevron in the middle. The pillow will have a silhouette of Charlie Brown and Snoopy in black. I thought it would look like Charlie Brown's shirt.
2. A dinosaur on the pocket with "Snore-a-Saurus" on the pocket with juvenile dinosaur prints.
3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fabric, and a solid colored pillow with one of the circle turtle heads on it.
From what I understand we are making them for both children and adults.
Any other thoughts?

When I made Quillows, I tried to plan the thread and blanket top to accommodate top stitching of the pillow edges. Some people just stitch the pillow part to the one piece of fabric but I always top stitched the 2 edges right through the whole sandwich at the end of construction. It worked well to plan the quilting to hide the 2 pillow stitching lines. Be aware, some people are going to use the pillow part for their feet so they have to be sturdy.

When I made quillows I made them out of my boy's favorite football teams but in this case you may want to stay with something general or you could go gender for adult and something universal for children.

For adults you may want to choose two beautiful prints that compliment each other for the front and the back, rather than a theme. I have a friend in Hawaii who makes and sells Quillos for adults and this is what she does. They are very popular.
