Default Quilt Batting Problem... Need Advice

I just opened a package of quilt batting bought a year or so ago. Its 100% polyester (not my first choice) but when I laid it out to sandwich my quilt, there are wrinkles that won't lay flat. I tried pulling gently on them to stretch a little but the wrinkles remain. How can I remove these so my quilt is flat?

Toss it in the dryer on low heat for a few minutes. But be sure to take it out and lie flat before it cools.

I throw a damp towel in with the batting in the dryer and it comes out just fine.
