I like the soft look of Warm & Natural batts, but prefer to hand quilt rather than have my quilts machine quilted. First time I stitched on a Warm & Natural batt, it bent the needle! I took it off the frame and soaked the batt, which helped, but it's been very difficult, slow going on this Lone Star quilt. What weight or type of poly batt will needle easily and give me the soft draping look at the corners of the quilt? Would really appreciate some suggestions.

Quilter's Dream is an all cotton batt that needles like a dream. Try it instead of the poly. People that have hand quilted wool batts say they quilt like butter.

Quilter's Dream Wool! Great to quilt with and drapes very smoothly.

I have never had that problem with Warm and Natural but it does get very heavy especially when hand quilting have to agree Quilters Dream is brilliant and not too heavy if you are quilting off the frame

any of the 'dream' batts are wonderful to stitch on, the dream cotton; dream poly; dream wool; and the silk/bamboo. also the hobbs selects blends are good for hand stitching (80% cotton/20% poly) maybe try different ones on small projects until you find the one you love the most. some of us who has batting scraps could prehaps send you some samples of different ones if you would like...send me a pm with address info if you would like a (swatch) sample of some different batts; i have a few different poly's, cottons and wool i would be willing to share.

I have found the quality of Warm and Natural has gone down over they years, but I still use it to machine quilt. I highly agree with other posts, Quilters Dream is a dream to hand quilt with. Personally I like the look of a quilt with cotton batting rather than polyester, but that's just personal preference.

You don't necessarily have to go to wool or polyester batting for easy hand needling. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 (80% cotton, 20% polyester) hand needles very well.

    Welcome on the board, Bonniebusybee!
I am just doing a wallhanging with a new brand of 80/20 blend. It's made by Pellon and the brand is called Legacy. It's very easy to hand quilt and to needle and it's also very soft and cuddly! I can really recommend it, as well as the Hobbs 80/20.

I have discovered Hobb's Poly Down. But I don't know how it hand stitches.
