I use a single thread of hand quilting thread and take 3 to 4 stitches at a time before pulling through. I use the ladder stitch so I don't have to pin or use binding clips :D

I am going to do double next time. I think it will hold up better. How close do you do between stitches?

I love to hand stitch. I know some of you hate to do binding by hand. But I enjoy it.

This is how I do it. About 1/4" stitches.

I love doing bindings by hand on my quilts and I use a double thread, about 15 inches long. I find it relaxing.

Once I learned the ladder stitch (from someone on this board), I began to enjoy hand-sewing the back side of my bindings. (I still do the front side by machine.)

Now that I do all my piecing by machine - and send my quilt tops+backs to a LAQ - it's very satisfying to finish each quilt with some hand-work.
