Same here. I've still got a stack of "what am I going to do with" fabric and quilting "things" I've never used after buying.

I purchased a one time only surprise bag from a LQS for $15 one Christmas. It did contain more than $15 worth of stuff, but absolutely nothing I liked, needed, or wanted! I was so disappointed, and I am usually easy to please. I hated the pattern, didn't care for the charm pack, and had no interest in making anything out of the zipper kit that was in the bag. That broke me from purchasing surprise packages! I ended up donating the items to my guild's auction.

    Hi, Juana
I am doing the fat quarter shop (FQS) it was more in my price range; after viewing many post from others talking about how great the box was I decided to join and I was not disappointed. I first learned of the quilt box on my youtube channel with sew so easy; after checking it out I like the box; but it was a pit more expense then what I expected. I will receive my 2nd box from FQS, next week. Hope this information helps. Happy sewing/quilting.

Thanks!! I found it on Bonnie's blog and assumed it was something Bonnie was doing but it is not Bonnie.

lovelyl -- This is my fear. Good idea to donate to the local guild! Thank you for the feedback!

wbfrog -- Thank you!! Positive feedback about the boxes is always good to hear. Have you seen anyone else doing these?

I love participating in our monthly exchange. I don't think I could justify signing up for an expensive surprise box from a shop. ( just me) I like that along with receiving fun neat surprises I also pass on, share with someone else. I get to pass on items I don't use and shop for little surprises.
I suspect I need to be doing the board's monthly exchange instead of what BluegrassGurl rightfully calls a "fad". I will keep my eye on the boxes to see if they start to provide good teaching points.

If anyone knows of another place with these mystery boxes, please post a link. Thanks!

I agree these are fun - I have a quilting friend that gets the quilty box one each month and she shares it each month at our quilt group get together. It's interesting to see what she gets but I also would rather use the money and get exactly what I need and or want.

my thought is...there's a sucker born everyday. This might be a way for sites to generate more business since fabric shopping has slowed down. They get gadgets and gizmos are a bulk price, so who's paying for all "this" cute stuff....

I find these types of boxes a bit too expensive for what I'd get. I've also been burned on secret pal swaps. So I find that the yearly secret santa swap here on the board is great fun! I enjoy hunting for great things for someone else. And I get a bonus of getting a goody box in return.
