My daughter started quilting about three years ago. She is now better than I am. We spend a lot of time together going to shows and shops. She is going back to work full time soon and will be working on Saturdays. I am going to miss these opportunities that we have had in the past. She is the best.

But I also belong to a guild. It does have a few groups in it that are hard to break in with. I have been a member for about five years now. I go for the speakers.

One thing led to another and I started helping with the community service quilt section. Through that I have gotten to know people a lot more.

I also met a lot of people at a local quilt shop. I now go to one of their homes once a month, along with 14 plus or minus others. We all live in the same area and have gotten to be good friends.

It has taken some time to make it into something I can associate with and be relaxed in with both the friends and the guild. It is worth it, though.

Just find someone who loves to quilt. Just don't push yourself too hard into it all. It will come around.

Find a PROJECT LINUS group.......if there isnt one in your area, think about starting one......this is the NICEST group of ladies, all trying to help someone else in the community.
