Quilt Guild Question #2
#81
My neighbor started a quilt group at her church to make and donate baby quilts. Most of the ladies are older and just come to cut and sew squares. They are not really interested in patterns and learning new stuff. You might try a few area churches and see if they have any kind of group. You never know.

Taking a class at one of your LQS, even if you already know what they are teaching. LQS aslo have days to come in and work on your UFOs.
Start a group meeting at your house once a week. Our group meets once a week and wome ladies don't quilt, but do other crafts.
check out the LQSes.

After about a year in a quilt guild, I clicked with a few others in the guild. And we started shopping and going to quilt shows together. Now we get together at each others homes, make lunch, sit & sew, discuss future projects, etc.
Very informal, no rules, just when we can get together.
Maybe post something in a quilt store or community center-"Interested in meeting with others interested in quilting, etc" Or take a class or 2

I was lucky enough to move into a home right next door to a quilter so we do everything quilting together. But we've also made some nice friends we've met at quilt shops and classes. What I've discovered is that quilters like to stick together so we tend to navigate towards other quilters.

My local cooperative extension office offers classes frequently and they have a bom that meets monthly. Very informative and friendly for the most part. That's where I started quilting last jan. Most counties in the USA have an office.

I have met some really nice quilters by volunteering at my LQS. When she has a bus load of shoppers coming she needs help cutting fabric, bagging up purchases, managing the snacks, helping shoppers find whatever they need and to watch out for theft. It's a lot of fun.
I almost forgot. The way I first met some quilters when I was just starting out I went on a bus trip. That's a great way to meet quilters.

I am in a group of quilters that meet at a small library near where I live. There are presently 14 of us and we quilt each others quilts. We meet 1 day a weekand make a quilt for the library to raffle off once a year. We average i quilt a year for each quilter participating. It works well for us.

Try taking a class at a LQS and you might meet someone there. I keep in touch with some of the ladies I met in my first class this winter. The teacher could even turn out to be a good friend too. The classes are fun...you won't regret it.
