quilt guild...

Hope you have a good time at your first guild meeting. I attended my first one a few weeks ago. I was wondering a bit what it would be like since I am of the male species. All of the people (they were all female) were wonderful and welcoming. I'm going back this month. Gary

I just recently went to a local guild meeting. It was a blast, and they were all so excited that I was considering joining. I think that might be becuase I am 10-20 years younger then anyone else in the guild! Can't wait to tap into that collective knowledge!

After I retired I went with a friend because I had found an old quilt top in my mother's things after she died and knew nothing about it. I looked the pattern up at the library and it was handmade hand sewn feathered star and made in about 1920. Later after research I found it was made for my mother by her mother (my grandmother) who I'd been named for! I traveled to the area that my own mother had grown up in and got a quilter to finish it for me as well as researched and began writing about my grandmother's story. It all began with the Guild meeting and I have been active there ever since, about 25 years. Go for it and best of luck.
