    I have two types and they are both red. Love them. Use them for everyday because they aren't heavy and easier for me to pick up.

    Hi - I think Melmac was a kind of plastic ware. We had some when I was a kid - my mom thought they were the latest thing. When they got too near flame they scorched on the edge!! LOL!!

    My mom had chartruse melmac dinnwerware. The coffee cups had coffee stains in them, so she soaked them in a bleach solution. They tasted and smelled like bleach after that. Yuck!!! Thanks for the memories!

    I've seen it called graniteware, which my deep-south in-laws called grannyware.

    Yep, my Mom threw out all her depression glass dishes for the NEW Melmac...

    now we are paying a premium for the old dishes...lol

    yep that's the kind in the picture, isn't that pretty! I'm thinking an applique of a wildflower bouquet in an old fashioned coffee pot like that

    Yes, I recently saw them called Granite Ware, too. On eBay, I think.
