I agree about Connecting Threads. I bought 3 kits and backings from them in Dec. when they had a big sale. Haven't made them up yet, but on my list for this year. I have made a tablerunner from a Connecting Threads kit, and it turned out beautiful.

I bought a quilt kit called something like a child's first quilt. The blocks were about 8" in size which seemed a good idea for little hands trying to sew squares for the first time. What a shock to realize that "NOT ONE BLOCK" was square!

Thank you all for your input. I am going to make the quilt and give it to the local Children's Hospital. That way someone will get some use out of it. I still do not like the fabrics and I left it on the design wall for a few days, changes pieces and rearranged the pattern. But still nothing, at least if I give it away to someone that really needs it I will feel better. I usually make 5 to 7 quilts for the local hospital every year for Christmas, so I will just add this one to it.

I am glad you are going to make up the quilt and donate it to a great cause. I have bought many quilt kits and have had no problems with them. I buy good quality fabric kits mostly from Susanne's Quilt Store which was local and has now moved to Georgia. I love a kit that is well balanced and has a good overall look. I make them up for my church to raffle and they all love the quilts. I will try to attach a picture of my last one

I've just recently bought two quilt kits, one wall hanging and one quilt size. I've had a little issue with both so I don't think I'll be going the kit route again. I've learned that just because the kit advertises being able to make a quilt like the one pictured, doesn't always mean that will really be the case (different fabrics inside the kit than what are pictured). Sometimes picking out fabric is a little overwhelming for me, but I always end up with all fabric that I like, no surprises when I open the box. That being said though, I don't think it's a matter of kits being bad or good, it's just an item that some people like and other's don't care for.

The only kit I ever bought was made up by the store I bought from. I have used the scraps on 2 other quilts & still have some left over. They were extemely genarous with fabric.
