Nice bathroom design. I can see that border on a quilt.

I think this is the pattern. On the sink, I counted over 3 tiles and up 3 tiles. Good job detective!

I've found inspiration in public restroom floors. :-)

I have a quilt top done with the Stonehenge fabrics. I'll picture it sometime on here. Love it. (it's a swirly
applique in oranges, browns, creams etc. that I saw made up in the fabric store)

The Ruby Pearl Opal pattern, or was there another that I missed? The RPO is growing on me the more I look at it.

Now that my corporate taxes are done, I can try to spend a little time looking at some of the patterns and Italian roads. Yay!

OK, here we go, I had a chance to get to the basement and find the tiles. There are actually only 2 types (this I sort of remembered) of "blocks" - 6" and 4" - besides the border.

I think the Jacob's ladder can represent the border...

I'm trying to find an easy way to draw it in EQ, but really, the moda pattern is very close.

I think with a 2x4 block, maybe no sashing, I could make a 10x6 block and work that way? It's a weird sized block though. Thoughts?

ETA: 12x10 might look more "normal"?

If you don't use sashing maybe you could quilt the mortar? I'm enjoying this process with you all.

Hey Reb, lol! I was about to respond that I didn't know what you meant by quilting the mortar, but duh! It just clicked as I was typing. That's a neat idea, sort of like a thread painting thing?

There was a link posted today in the Quilts made using vintage machines thread that may help me accomplish this look: http://lucysquilts.blogspot.ca/2009/...im-quilts.html

Both the style and the method! I just have to think it through some more.

I managed to get the block designed in EQ, but I can't seem to play nice with the custom layout. It won't let me shift-drag the block to the quilt. I will play some more and figure out what I'm doing wrong, but not until tomorrow now. There's a good storm coming and I prefer my computer to not act as a lightning rod.

Tomorrow, I'll also try to pull some fabrics to audition. I figured out how that works in EQ.

ETA: This is what I came up with for the block. It's 12x10, but I'm having trouble visualizing how to do the seams if I need to "rotate" blocks and make them fit together. I think this becomes a sort of Y seam??

Yes, I guess that would be thread painting. It would be over every seam. You would probably want to press the seams open. It certainly is a lot of thread and time. The link to the denim quilt was interesting. However, I would not want to work with all that 'sashing'. Looks like since you are drafting, that you will be continuing to go with your own tile design. I think that is great! Looks to me like Y seams too but maybe there is another way? Maybe with one patch of the same fabric being made by a seam? I'm not sure if that is ever done.
