Default Quilt made with baby clothes

I have been asked to make a baby quilt using clothes from the baby. I have looked at pictures, but I am not sure how the clothes were used. Were they appliqued onto a square or were the clothes taken apart? I like the concept, just not sure how to get to the end result.

It looks like there are different styles. Some are simple patchwork and others look like the clothes are appliqued on. I also saw some that cut the clothes into shapes and then applique them like this:

Thank you so much for asking that question. Someone my daughter knows is looking for someone to make a quilt with her son's baby clothes. Of course my daughter quickly volunteered me. I have been looking for someone to help out this mother with this, but I'm afraid it is not me. That quilt looks doable, but not by me. Quilting is my hobby not my job. lol

I made one ... some of the clothing I just zigzagged down. Some that were heavy I cut out the back.

I am currently making a quilt with a child's baby clothes, most of which are sleepers and knit tops. I have appliqued a teddy bear in a square then cut the clothes to fit as the belly of the bear. I they apply fusible web to the back and applique it on. I do the ends of the arms, feet and the inside of the ears with the same fabric. Its a lot of work but should be real cute when I'm finished.

The people on this board are so talented! I made one a few years ago (a memory quilt) made with the baby's clothes. The only thing I could think of doing was fussy cut the clothes in the shape of a diamond. The quilt turned out well and the parents loved it, but my brain just doesn't seem to work the way your more artistic brains do! LOL I love this board!

I made one a few years ago that a man had asked me to make for his wife as a mothers day gift. The clothes came from the lady's first grandchild. I took apart the clothes and cut out some template shapes and used the baby clothes with my templates. It was a lot of fun to make!
