Well, just to toss in my little bit. I AM an OSU certified Master Gardener, retired. I would never call myself a Garden Master, LOL. I did all the training and volunteer time required and then way above and beyond. I don't go around dropping that into all my conversations although there was a time when I brought it up more often as it was part of our mission to spread the message.
Being a Master Gardener never meant we knew all the answers or had all the skills, only that we were taught where to go to find them and given the tools to use to figure them out.
My houseplants always died, then as well as now. LOL We can't all be good at everything. :D

I took a class from someone who was said to be a Master Quilter -- I paid way too much for a class that was a big disappointment. She is not on the list either. I think (after a quick search) that Master Quilter may also be used as a courtesy title that is bestowed on someone who has created many quilts and published a bunch of books -- maybe becoming associated with a particular style of quilt.

Is her name here?

The list isn't very long from 1980 until now. I recognized several of the names and agree that they have a true 'mastery' of their art.

I think it is like the master gardner program for the extension agent in their county.
One day I met a woman and the first thing she said was she was an artist. So I guess they can tell you what they want and who is to say different.lol
