Quilt Name & Borders?
I am making my husband a bowtie quilt, I am piecing it together so it kind of reminds you of a snowball quilt. When you piece a bowtie quilt like that does it have another name? Also I wonder what kind of a border would look good with it? The quilt is done in all in blues and cream muslin. I have tried to use civil war looking fabrics but some are not so much.... but I think they go ok.

I'm not sure if it would have a different name, I think it is still the bowtie block just a different setting. Wow when you google images there are some interesting ones. http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&cp...ENPUiALBmsnmCA My favourite is the red, white & blue & then a solid small border, and then a border of smaller bowties, hopefully you'll see the one I mean in the images. Also doing a piano key border looks nice on some of the pictures, but I see some people have just ended the quilt with the binding and no extra borders, that looks nice too.

please remember, the name of the BLOCK is a bowtie block, but once you put it in a quilt, it is yours to name as a QUILT.... so anything that suggests itself to you based on its color, or your husband, or the quilting stitch pattern....whatever you would like... please remember to document as much as possible for the label... not for you or your husband, but for the great grandchild who will come on it in a box and not know who made it or why or for whom... date, gift occasion, by your whole name, for his whole name, even wedding date and children's names...anything that will document it for future generations...
