Except there is a point on the other side of that seam (if we're talking about the FG border).
So if you adjust it (without taking it apart first), there goes your point.

Piano key borders are very easy to adjust.
There are certainly quilts and situations where a quick fix is perfectly fine. I do it all the time, as my middle name is "lazy."

But there is so much work, time and $$$ already put into this quilt that it really warrants fixing it correctly.

But let's wait for the OP to come back. Maybe she'll have a picture. ;-)

thanks ladies...your suggestions are great...and I have done all of the above...obviously not well...lol....Sue Garman has instructions for determining the size of the border at each step..I did that...I measured through the middle...I am going to give it a pressing and see where it is going wonky on me...I will post a pic as soon as I get batteries charged for my camera...(and find it too..ha ha) I think i need a break from this quilt...last night i made the 4 log cabin corner pieces and have all the stars ready for the last border but now i have to stop and see what is going on...I CAN'T IMAGINE HAVING TO TAKE THIS APART...but i will if i have to...in the summer... I am going to add 2 photos...it is hard to see but it seems to be tight at the 4 corners...may have something to do with the last 3 skinny borders I put on....i took a closeup of the top right corner...when i put it up on the flannel it didn't seem as bad as when i had it on my cutting table...tell me what you really think...i am tough and won't cry or get offended...
actually now that i see the picture you can see what i mean in the first pic...top right...do you think that I can work that out when I baste it..

    Gorgeous quilt!
I had the same problem with one quilt. Working on the bias was my problem.

    Tellabella,

Your fabrics are stunning. The quilt looks beautiful.

Here are 3 Sharon Schamber videos (some have 2 parts) showing how to whip (nicely) a block back into shape. Watch them - especially the stretching and truing - and try to apply what she does on the block to the corners of your quilt.

    Truing a block:

    Stretching a block:

    Shrinking a block:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIjZqABo2NY

Barnbum used these tips on a Bargello that was out of whack - like 2", and it brought it back into shape.

Starch can be your friend. Just be careful not to scorch your quilt top. I don't think you have to take off any of the borders, but if you don't fix it now, it will just get more out of whack as you add more borders.

And wow again. It's really gorgeous.

    Thanks again ladies...

MTS, I watched the videos on truing and stretching...I have had to do that on some of my small blocks....I am going to put this whole thing on my big table and pin it to my cutting board...I am not sure if it is going to fit...so I may have to do it halves???

You guys have been so helpful...I was ready to pack it in with this one...but it has been a heck of a learning curve...

I have 72 sawtooth star blocks completed and last night I made 4 log cabin corners...everything is done and now I have to put the rest of the pieces together...

I will let you know how it goes...tella
