I just did a square dance with blue and green batiks for my 26 year old. Turned out real nice for a guy. - Photo attached, and easy!

Hi Diana! I think the problem your having is not that your overthinking it but that there are so many choices. I like Delectable Mountains (it's on my to-do list) but think the Gentlemans Fancy is really a great one with two colors. What about picking a few and then asking your son which he likes best? XO

Sheree, you're right - there are way too many choices!!! lol!!!!!
I'm making the Gentlemans Fancy. Finally have 6 blocks done! Yay!! I'm using 6 different fabrics, like the pattern on Quilter's Cache.
It's 6 rows to sew together for each block, seems like they take quite awhile to do! lol!!!!

    Mareliba, you're quilt is beautiful!!!! :D :D

I made one like this one for my nephew's college graduation. He loved it...
so he has told me. It is the log cabin from Donna Poster's "foldy stuff"
patterns. I did it in homespun plaids.
    It is quite manish.....
I also made my son a Harley Davidson T'shirt quilt....also using some of his shirt,...did not quilt it. I used all his Harley buttons that I could find !!!!!
I will try to get the pics in, If possible....
    here's hoping.

I did a Carpenter's Wheel for my 26 year old son in shades of blue. Didn't turn out girly at all. Here's some pictures of it:

Bear claws are great in plaids for a guy. My 32 year old has one I made for him when he went off to college and it's now on the back of his recliner. He wraps his three kids in it when they crawl up on his lap in the winter. Yes, it does get cold in Florida...sometimes.

I made a Yellow Brick Road quilt for my dad using browns and greens. It was very "manly" and the pattern is a lot of fun to do. You don't have to tell him it is called Yellow Brick Road.

I have two sons , I made them both a rag quilt from denium / flannel
. Most of the denium I used was fro their old jeans .... go green...

they are holding up pretty well + did not have to "quilt" them ...
JUST do your self a favor IF You do one from denium ... take it to the largest commerical washer you can find, I nearly killed my washing machine with the "fiber"cigars it rolled up under the adjitatior....LOL now
    not so funny then ...

I will attempt to post pics of one both sides showing ... Good Luck

how about the tried and true log cabin? I had made squares as samples when I taught a class and my son loved them, so am now putting them together into a quilt---1 side of the cabin is light to dark blue, the other side is light to dark green.
