Default Quilt pattern for monochromatic quilts?

    Hello,

What are some ideas for quilt patterns with mainly one color, maybe a blender or neutral in it as well? Thanks!

If you add a neutral, you have a two color quilt. My main "go to" pattern for two colors is Eleanor Burns, Day and Night. Or Night and Day. It uses lots of yardage, due to cutting triangles out of a strip method. So many scraps you almost have to compete the two wall hangings out of the remaining triangle pieces. Pretty good if you are using "team" colors.

I have made two of these neutral quilts. The pattern is called Whispered Lace by Amy Ellis, in her book called Modern Neutrals. This is one of my favorite books, LOTS of great patterns in it, especially for neutral fabrics.

a one color quilt? Do you mean blocks created (whatever pattern) from, say, all green fabrics, but different designs on each fabric? I just cannot picture the cohesiveness of that..... I'm probably thinking this wrong....will wait and see more responses.

log cabin or bargello could work in a monochromatic color scheme as long as you have different values of the same color

Thanks for all the suggestions! My mom actually suggested a log cabin as well. How hard is it to make a bargello? I have never made one. Thanks again!

Here is one of my Bargello quilts in shades of purple....with white. It's a free pattern online. I did modify mine a bit, but it is the same pattern.

Bargello quilts are much easier than they look.

    Hope this is helpful.

Oh, a Trip around the World might also be worth mentioning. Let me see if I can find one of those.

.....Hmmmm...looks like my Trip around the World is a bit out of focus. I don't know how to edit that once I have already posted. Sorry....

Or maybe a Double Slice Layer Cake in shades of the same colors. It is a simple pattern that always ends up looking good. I have made it with a layer cake and with fabric I just cut into 10 inch squares. Let me see if I can find some pictures that are in focus.

Just in case these give you ideas. It is a free pattern online....a video actually. Just google the name if you are interested.
