_________22. Umbrellas - one with clothes & one with quilting supplies

this pretty well covers about everything, but for the "just in case", it seems like you have to pack your entire sewing room so you don't forget something. the best thing to take is a good attitude and above all HAVE FUN

If you are flying, that list can be cut way down. At our retreats, we set up cutting and ironing stations, so not everybody brings them. The irons and boards are taken from the hotel rooms. (with the permission of the hotel).

People that drive have brought an extra machine for those that cannot bring that. One lady does bring it as a carry on.

Retreats are so much fun.

Do you bring a cloth measuring tape or a metal (carpenter) measuring tape? or one of each?

I use my metal measuring tape more often than any. I love it when trying to square up a quilt.

I like ShowMama list. It really depends on what the retreat provides and they all seem to be different. One thing I do is the major cutting on several projects and then box them up in a large shoe box and take them. This saves so much time not having to be just cutting.

I am packing and getting ready to leave on one on Thursday morning. Can't wait. I know I have too many projects packed. Tomorrow I will purge the projects. I'm always "a legend in my own mind" when it comes to getting projects done on retreat. I always take way too many. but, I figure, better too many than not enough. The lists for packing are good ones.
One thing I would add is either painters tape or good old Duck Tape. You never know when you might need it. We tend to hang projects up on the wall as we get them done, or near done. That's where the tape comes in handy. Also for taping down extension cords.
Oneother thing is be sure, if you have them , to bring both of the needles plates. Single hole and the one for other stitches.
Snacks. We all bring them, and some of us take them back home, but you never know when a snack attach will come. If you have a bottle of wine, make sure you have the opener. ;-)

Make sure you take the power cord to your sewing machine. I went to one a few years ago and got all set up & could not find my sewing machine power cord. Called home and sure enough it was sitting on the floor next to where I was packing. Lucky for me one of the other quilters had an extra machine as it was too far to go back home and get it.
