I have one on my machine right now and I am stitching in the ditch in the shadow. I did the curl in all the sashing as I could keep it continuous to keep cost down on quilt for client. This is the second I have quilted and I stitched in ditch on other also.

Those puckers are distracting and will always bother you, so do something not intense, but enough to lock it on.....with the same color thread as the sash so it will blend in.

I absolutely love the effect you have now, with the blocks looking like they are inset. When a picture shows the 3D Illusion, you have got something special. Most pictures won't show a 3D effect. I say, enough is enough, leave it alone, bind it, call it done!

FYI....I have a kit to make this same pattern. I think I am going to move it up to next on my list to do. You are an inspiration!

I think the STID - - but must admit, I am in love with Becky's, too, with those swirls with the boxy shaped squares. Also, I like the idea of that glass and the markers - hmm, think I'll make one. :-) I would be interested in how you go - and beautiful job - both of you.

I love the quilt. The quilting in the blocks is perfect. I can not tell if there is quilting in the 'shadows'. I do think that the sashing needs something. If you echo stitch around the block/shadow units (as suggested by others) that would result in straight lines in the sashing and I think that would look great and would enhance the three d effect not detract from it.

I would also leave them unquilted.

I'd leave the sashing unquilted....assuming your batting does not require more quilting. I like the smooth look of the sashing.

If its not going in a show, then its your choice. Me, I like the contrast with no quilting.

I agree. It will also smooth out the sashing. It is beautiful.

I think I would stitch in the ditch around the inside rectangles only - the tan or beige makes this quilt, and I think quilting it will destroy the illusion of this beauty. If you want to quilt the rectangles, then a few feathers don't do many in each rectangle. I think just light quilting needs to be done here to keep the floating illusion. That's a beauty!
