Nice, thoughtful hubby!! Is there a budget? I don't usually buy kits BUT if you see a kit for a quilt that really hits you, it would be great to buy it and have that quilt as "the one I got on my birthday when DH took me shopping!!". You may also want to get a couple of fabrics that are not the type you usually buy, or a bundle of fat quarters, or 5 yards from each shop you enter, or a color collection.....I'm excited for you and could go on and on. Happy Birthday! I know you will have a ball, enjoy his company and appreciate his efforts. I wish I could be 40 again.

I love Shady Maple's food, have not been there in several years. I would go to The Country Store, in Intercoarse as well as Dutchland Quilt Patch on Rte 30 and all the other shops there. Buy lots of fabric and have a god time.

Definitely hit The Old Country Store. I haven't been there for a few years but last time I was there, they had fabric really inexpensively. I would buy fabric, fabric and fabric. There is a really nice quilt museum downtown.

The quick trip for a full/queen takes 12 different 2/3 yard cuts, plus 2/3 for 1st border, 1/3 for optional folded border, 2 3/8th for 2nd border and 7/8 for binding.

The quick quarters for a twin, full/queen or king all use 24 1/4 yard cuts or fat quarter. Borders depend on size. If you need them let me know

Oh, I also thought of dragging him to the quilt museum. :) I love that place.

What a sweet offer from hubby. Happy Birthday, I'm also joining the 40 club this year (October)! If it's snowing, maybe you could do what you want and have him give you a raincheck for the big trip!

What a great BDay present! Have a happy day! If it was me, I'd be buying fabric to the limit!

Happy Birthday! I think I would mostly plan to enjoy the day with my DH. I haven't been to that area since many years before I became a quilter, but I do remember even then drooling over the beautiful quilts. Now I think my attention would also be focused on fabrics. And I would be looking for designs that I like, patterns, taking pictures where it's allowed.
