Hi everyone, my daughter is stationed up at Great Lakes Naval Station, in Waukegan,IL near Chicago. We have made two trips up to see her and she will be there until March 2012 probably. Does anyone of recommendations for good local quilt shops say in a 50 mile radius. I know this is the place to get that info. Thanks to all who respond! Celia

All you need to do is Google "quilt shops, Waukegan, IL" and, ta-dah! A bunch of shops in the area, and further down are fabric stores.....all are under 50 miles! See how this works for you and your daughter....♥

There is a nice one in downtown Crystal Lake. I can't remember the name of it....but it is only about 2 blocks from the train station.

I know it is a little farther, but if you ever make it up to Milwaukee, and a lot of the Great Lakes Naval people do - check out Patched Works in Elm Grove, WI. They are on the internet too. They post new fabric arrivals each month online. At least 12,000 bolts, last I heard.

FYI, if you are not familiar with the area, it would take longer to drive out to the outer suburbs like Crystal Lake (my Aunt lives there-pretty city) than to shoot right up to Milwaukee.

She's right...the traffic on the surface roads are just crazy...

Thanks for the reply. I will put that on my list. I know my husband and daughter would enjoy a side trip to Milwaukee!I think recommendations from other quilters is the best way to find good shops.
