Pine Grove Quilt shop on Delaware in Kenmore New York. Very nice helpful people! Great selection of many things Jo Morton, not to mention 1930's reproductions and more. I drive 2 hours, cross the border and really feel at home there!

Definitely Quilters Attic in Pine Bush, they have several rooms with different 'collections'; the Quilting Basket, Rte 376 in Wappingers, they have fantastic orientals; Pinwheels just off Rte 9D in Croton-on-Hudson, they specialize in the great Japanese cottons and hand-embroidery samplers. There used to be one in Woodstock, it was like walking into an explosion in Kaffe Fassett's workshop, but the guys picked up their tents and went north somewhere, I think someone said near Buffalo - they had the best stuff.

Since I live on the state line (I could walk to CT if I didn't mind going 2 miles all uphill), I have a few just over the line, Quilters Corner on Rte 7 in New Milford, she has fabulous batiks, the happiest brights and her dog QC who greets you at the door; The Quilt Shop just north of the North Street Shopping Center, exit 5 or 6 off 84 in Danbury, they have 30s repros, kids prints and grown-up flannels; and Fabric Tree on Sugar Hollow Road, Exit 3, again in Danbury, near the Mall, she has great batiks and prints, also really good wools for clothing, lots of great yarn and a home dec section to die for ... I have left way too much of my hard-earned cash in each of these places.

Hinterland

The Woodstock quilt shop guys moved up north to Scotia/Glenville, right outside Schenectady, where the shop is now The Joyful Quilter. They just expanded. www.joyfulquilter.com

Another quilt shop that changed is Log Cabin Fabrics, formerly of Ravena. They moved to Route 9W in Selkirk, into a larger space. They're definitely worth a trip, too - www.logcabinfabrics.com

Patchwork Angels in Endicott New York is my favoriate Quilt shop. Has a good selection of fabrics, threads, a book room, accessories, patterns, and Janome Machines. Awesome Teachers, and Classes and a Great Staff.

You've got most of my favorites. Log Cabin Fabrics recently moved to a larger location on 9W in Selkirk, and has a handicapped ramp, plenty of parking. I loved the shop before but it was in a log cabin with steep steps and stairs. Joyful Quilter, Patti's, Gloversville Sewing center, Adirondack Quilts(even with the steep staircase), The Black Bear in Inlet. I also like the QuiltBug in Esperance. Smaller than some shops but a nice selection and very friendly staff. They used to have a traveling QuiltBus. Flying Geese in Colonie is having staffing issues and suggests you call before stopping in. Hopefully things will settle out soon. I rarely went there, but the last time the PT lady was nice. I'm permanently and painfully on crutches and to have a staffer plop down at a sewing machine and block me as I headed to the back wall of fabrics was enough to keep me out of there for almost a year. Over the border in N. Adams, MA I love Talas Quilt Shop, but she's apparently closed at present. I don't know if the horrible floods last Fall affected her shop. Skip Alfreds Fabrics in Colonie. He's still selling 15 year old fabrics with fade folds and just keeps increasing the prices.

I have been in some of those already mentioned, and I have to say that they can't beat Patchwork Plus here in Marcellus. The owners and staff are FRIENDLY, there are tons of bolts of fabric and the building is almost new and beautiful. I have never taken a lesson there but they have many. I bought my Bernina there, too. Oh, and they have lots of yarn. This shop was written up in one of the national quilting magazines a few years ago.....can't remember which one. It was in the top ten shops in the nation. Lots of out of town folks shop there. It's a "Don't miss" shop.
