Unfortunately, according to their website they are now only an on-line store or you can catch them at quilt shows. Darn! They wouldn't be too far from my sister's place. I was lucky to find them at the PWQS and I was sure to get their business card.

One more thing I just thought of. While I was at the PWQS I heard about the La Connor Quilt & Textile Museum. They are having a Quilt and Fiber Arts Festival on Oct. 4-6. La Connor is about 70 miles north of Seattle. I was there many years ago and it's a nice place to visit. http://www.laconnerquilts.com/

If you go to the burbs, type in the name of the town and see what pops up. The recommendations here are great. Used to eat lunch and watch the boats go through the Ballard Locks. I LOVED going to Quiltworks Northwest in Bellevue. It's an interesting store and they also sell beads. Like we don't get in enough trouble with fabric, right? Bellevue also has Pacific Fabrics and Crafts which is a step up from Joanne's which is also in Bellevue. Issaquah (my old hometown of 18 years) has a shop named 'Gossypium." It hasn't been open very long, but has wonderful fabric...all top quality. Bothell has a nice quilt shop and is also the home of That Patchwork Place publishing. The publishing company used to have sales open to the public every so often, and you might call and ask. Or if you see a Half Price Book Store, go check out the qulting section. They usually have a good selection. Can you tell I miss my old home?

I like the quilt store in Yelm, Washington as well if she is headed south on I-5. They have great customer service, just enough if you know what you want, all the help you could ask for if you don't. With lots of choices and pretty good prices.

I'm also going 'home' for a visit next month and one of my favorite places is the Pacific Fabric Warehouse near the sports stadiums. It is a warehouse for sure - the old iron and metal part is on the ground level and the fabric section is upstairs. Allow lots of time to rummage through everything. Lots of notions and yarns and fabric. If you're a frugal shopper the Goodwill is near by and you can gets stuff (clothes for fabric content) by the pound. First thing I've already packed is an empty 2nd suitcase! Sew many shops to see no matter which direction you go. Have fun.

All of the above are nice! If you are just going to be in the Seattle Metro area, Undercover Quilts in the Pike Place Market is a great place! The Market is something you should see when in town, anyway. Love QuiltWorks Northwest. You are coming out at a great time of year, too. The weather should be perfect.

Are you flying or driving? If you're driving, which direction are you coming from?

I love making a day of the ferry ride and shopping at Island Quilts on Vashon Island. It's easy to spend hours in there! And they will give you a coupon for a discount to eat at one of the nearby cafes.
