Your quilt is beautiful. I can relate to your frustration. A year ago I entered two quilts in the county fair. Both quilts had positive comments, and received 100 points in the comment area. I received a sweapstakes on one and blue ribbon on the area. I have no idea how they were judged and the difference in the two. I didn't enter this year.

You are amazing with the detail and beauty expressed in this quilt. For a quilter of only 2 years you are on your way!

Please don't get me wrong, I don't feel short changed or cheated by the judging results and the lack of a top placing ribbon. If I felt that way I should just stop showing now. I'm mostly upset at the ribbon awarding confusion and the lack of category organization. I guess I took for granted that all shows clearly displayed which category each quilt was in since that's how it's been done at the handful of shows I've attended. I had not ever been to this one though.

I am slightly upset that my Honorable Mention never got placed on my quilt. Not the end of the world but if you earned a ribbon it would be nice for the spectators to see that (it's about showing off a little, right? ;) ). But just as you learn which restaurants are good to eat at and not by going to them, you learn which shows are worth showing at by entering them.

I hope you continue to enter this show, so that I can see your work again :)

I have to agree with you, I couldn't figure out categories or why some of the quilts got ribbons. Hard to understand if you can't compare....

The Hattiesburg show rotates with this Jackson show so it will be next October (or late September, not sure). Do you attend that show? I went last year (just as a spectator) and really liked it. I will for sure be entering it next year.

I think the star quilt that was hanging up on the banister above the main display area was one that was in my category. It was a single person entry and all pieced. It was very nice though I wish it was hung down lower so I could have seen the quilting closer. I think it had a second place ribbon on it and the Best Piecing ribbon. That was the only quilt I was fairly sure was in my category. Really there was very few individual entries so you think it would have been easy to find others in my category. I'm wondering if they combined categories for the Individual sections, like Mixed combined with Pieced?

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. I agree that your quilt is destined for stardom!
