I have a big cupboard in the upstairs sewing room, some of them are there, rest are on couch, chair, beds, walls. Here a quilt, there a quilt, everywhere a quilt. :)

I have heard that you shouldn't store them in a cedar chest. Over time the cedar will cause color damage.

And I've heard you should not store them in plastic bags as the fabrics need to "breathe". They should be rolled or folded with acid free paper and stored out of the sun. Or can roll or fold with a clean old sheet inbetween. And if folded, should periodically be refolded in a different direction to avoid creases and wear at the folds. I have my quilts in various places. One small one is on a wall. Will be making more for other walls later on. The bed quilts that aren't in use are in a barrister's bookcase in my living room. I even put my finished tops with the backing rolled in them in that bookcase. It is colorful and attractive. I put my FW on top of the bookcase. Anyone who enters my home should know right away i am a quilter.!

Wanted to buy a really nice barrister bookcase at an estate sale but instead of holding it for me they sold it to a dealer. Bummer, that. So I did what I could afford: ordered online from Office Depot.

I know someone else who does this too! Prevents the quilt from creasing from being folded. Great idea.

Our bed, the back of the sofa, over a chair, hanging on the walls. I would love a quilt rack, or quilt cabinet to store them in.

I have some folded and stored on bookshelves..Some are hanging on walls and some on beds...I keep them out so they can be seen and used..I also keep throw quilts on a rack so when its cold we can cover up while watching tv or reading...

I buy those plasitc zippered bags and store them in those. I just stack them in my closet. But, of course I have them on my beds to. I just keep stacking.

I have an older wardrobe in the sewing room and I have been hanging the wall type ones in there, the Christams one is in with the Christmas decorations and the last one is under our bed in an open plastic tote.

how about using one on your kitchen and/or dining room table - not a runner but a full hang down table cloth.

I quilt just for fun and have all I need. Now I'm concentrating on making quilts for kids. There are organizations who will see that they reach hospitalized children who are really love getting a beautiful 'blanky' they can take home with them. It doesn't have to be for kids, even a teenager will appreciate the kindness of being given their own quilt. My grandson sure used his alot!
