    Hi Pam:

I have also wanted to do the same with my son's hockey jersey's and t-shirts from boy scouts. I have read some tips on t-shirt quilts and most sites or books recommend you apply fusible interfacing to the back of the uniform or t-shirt. This will help to stablize the knit fabric. You need to decide how large the blocks will be. You could use the largest motif as your base measurement. If you have designs that need more fabric (say,a pocket design) you could create a block around that piece. Most sites recommend you tie the quilt to finish. If you google tshirt quilts, you can find alot of info. Good luck!
