check out Georgia Bonesteel's website (just google her name) ... she has been publishing and doing TV on Lapquilting since the 70s... and her techniques range from one block to 'one quarter' quilts.... and none of them that i have ever done have been stiff or uncomfortable in the seam areas...

Georga Bonesteel is the queen mother of quilt as you go -see if she has anything on a website-I tried to do it and it worked okay for me but I was doing a monster 9 panel art quilt and had some issues with the seams after I washed it cause I wasn't exactly perfect in my technique Good luck
