    Default Quilt as you go

What is the best way to join blocks if blocks are quilted as you go?

The queen size quilt that I did QAYG (Quilt as you go) on used a strip (like binding tape) on the bottom. I believe the instructions I followed were Marti Michell. You quilt the square to within 2 " of the edge, then sew the top pieces together, then add the strip and fold over and hand sew......worked for me with such a large quilt. Go on line....was also watching "Sew it all" on PBS yesterday, and then had another method for a baby size quilt which was done with horizonal pieces and a serger (regular machine could be used) it was your basic fold and sandwich....go on line to sewitall.com

I've done it that way. I also trim the backing 1/4" longer than batting and top and sew the backing together. Then sew a strip like sashing on the front. I prefer it to handling a whole lot of fabric at once.

There is an orphan block QAYG challenge started by Jenniky running on the board now.
