My husband asked me a few months ago, "How come I was always quilting for everyone else. When was I going to make a quilt for OUR bed?" So that is my next project. I am making a quilt from material bought in Gabon, Africa where we lived and served as missionaries for 21 years. The material is real busy so I am looking for the right pattern to use. I am leaning toward the snowball or something with a big area of one material in the block. Can hardly wait to start on it.

I made myself a top out of the jelly roll 1600. I used batiks called zinfandel (purples). I am going to practice quilting it on my new long arm. Some day I will make a floral quilt, and a landscape quilt, and a OBW, and....and.....and.....

I wanted a sort of "Morrocan" feel to my bedroom and could not find a bedspread that fit what I had in my brain. So, after finding some great pillow shams at the thrift store as my inspiration, I am making a quilt using some really neat fabrics in combinations of burgundy, rust, gold, taupe. Most of these have been thrift store finds or sale items in a drapery outlet; one of a kind items that did not sell or only had 1 left-picked up for pennies. I think it is going to be beautiful-and no one else will have one like it!!!

I have only "started" a quilt for myself once in my life. I just have to finish machine quilting it but I really messed up the quilting when I started it. I did great on the piecing and it is a dresden plate pattern.

Have one in the planning stage with soft florals, lace, embroidery and things I like. Want to finish up on a few other things before I start on it.

And the good thing about it is that I do not have more than $30 tied up in my fabric finds for my one of a kind Moroccan quilt!

I have a book of a roses on a white background. The roses are shades of pink and light and dark leaves. I would just love to see it on my bed.So my hubby could at least say , " I've given a bed of roses to sleep on." LOL

A kind sized, double sided batiks, made with all of the luscious colors....one side would be a star-within-a star-within-a-star pattern that I've had for years----and made a small one of, but never quilted since it was one of my first and the seams all didn't match....yep, just about every one was off. The other side would be the Lone Star of my dreams....a Log Cabin Lone Star (each diamond is made like a log cabin block then all are set together line a Lone Star.) Unfortunately, I don't have the skills for either! :)
