Quilter has my quilt, not working on it!
#21
My thought is that if the quilt got caught in the machine, she either does not know how to release it without damaging it, or is afraid to try it. I hope it is not damaged badly. I know nothing about the long arm machines except what I've seen on YouTube, etc., but it surely does sound bad to me! I hope you are able to get it back soon in good condition.

Maybe the quilt getting caught in her machine my have caused the machine to break. She should have communicated with you if there was a delay with the finish date. You might could contact her as if you are checking with the date and your memory of the date. At least there would be a dialog.

I am so sorry and disappointed this has happened to you mom and her quilt. Since you (daughter) don't live where mom and quilt are, check the list of us members where mom lives. Some one of us might be willing to go retrieve her quilt for her.
I would do it.

I had a wall hanging that was at a quilter's for 17 months. I finally called and told her that I wanted the quilt returned, finished or not. She asked for one more week and finally finished it. She didn't charge me, but I paid her anyway. She did a beautiful job, but there is no excuse for keeping a wall hanging for 17 months.

Go, in person, at a time when she may have other customers. Be polite, but make sure that the other customers hear your conversation. You'll be surprised how quickly she will get your quilt done. She does does want to get a bad reputation and lose business. Go frequently. When you get your quilt, do not go back.

I feel so bad for your mom. If she isn't up to the personal visit, maybe writing a letter will get her some action or at least a date when they expect it to get done. Some times life gets in the way. But, there is no excuse for such poor communication.
Hugs to you, my friend, and your mom.

I agree with dclutter. It is hard to understand how the quilt can get caught if it is loaded properly. However, I can see this happening if it was quilted on a sit down machine, where one would move the quilt.
