He called at around 9:30 am. Now to some this might not be "early" but I am a night owl and crawled into bed around 5:30 so you do the math. And it's saturday-no lessons so I could sleep in as late as I wanted. Here's how it went:

him: hello, this is xxx from quilter's club of america
    me: *big sigh*
    him: what's the matter?
me: I'm not interested or I would have renewed when I got the letter AND I was asleep
him: oh. Well I noticed your membership has lapsed and I'd like to renew it for you
me: I'm not interested right now
him: gale, are you still quilting?
me: yes but I'm still not interested
him: all I need from you is an okay over the phone
me: NO. I'M NOT INTERESTED *hangs up*

seriously?? Why are they so stinkin' persistent when I said no over and over? I do get calls from magazines I've subscribed to in the past but when I say I'm not interested, the vast majority say 'have a nice day' and that's the end of it. If they try to talk me into it, it's not likely I'll change my mind, and I decide then and there to never buy that magazine again. In fact I have now decided I'll never again subscribe to or buy any F&P magazine, EVER. I was so ticked off I couldn't get back to sleep and I really wanted to get more sleep since I may have to help dh move equipment today. UGH.

How annoying. You were a lot nicer than I would have been if he continued after I said I was asleep. How rude!!

That would annoy me, too! I remember thinking that the telemarketer who called me at 6:00am was SO out of luck! It was actually the Commador of the Navy base telling me my DH was in a "misshap". They all got out ok, but the aircraft was toast. I hate it when they call during my nap. I loved having dial-up because I could go online and then go to sleep and no one could call me!

Sorry that happened. Some just can't take no for an answer. Hope your day gets better!

When I don't want to be bothered I just turn the ringer off. If it's important, they can leave a message.

I can't turn the ringer off because if dh needs something he will call, and he's out in the middle of nowhere, farming, so I don't want him to end up having to walk miles or something. He normally wouldn't call that early though unless it was an emergency.

I may be considered rude by some, but I look at it as not wasting their or my time. When I get any telemarketer I say "I'm not interested and please remove this number from your call list" and immediately hang up.
