paper piecing is super easy you just have to get over that initial hump. i remember my 1st time and i struggled with the 1st 2 pieces for like an hour - then everything clicked and now i foundation piece all the time.

Speaking of floors reminds me of some post somewhere long ago. The woman was having tile floors laid and she made them lay them PERFECTLY SQUARE so she could lay quilts out on them. :lol:

A few months ago I had the flu and in the time spent in the bathroom, I determined I could make a quilt from the vinyl flooring pattern. Considering I hate vinyl flooring and couldn't afford anything better at the time, I am glad I was poor because I drafted the pattern. Now for the time to make it......

My boys went to a miranda Lamburt concert and these were in the pictures they took! I even have my boys thinking quilts!

I agree with all of you. Makes me wish I'd taken pictures of all the church and cathedral floors when we lived in Germany and traveled all over the place! I do remember beautiful floors. Also the wonderful wood floors in in castles and estate houses in England. The Hermitage in St Petersburg has great art, but the FLOORS are to die for. Every room has a different pattern in wood inlays. They should make everyone wear cloth booties over their shoes!

Also, the kitchen towel I bought the other day has a nice swirly pattern that would make nice free motion quilting!

here's an interesting news story regarding quilts, flooring, and a lawsuit.

paula nadelstern, a famous art quilter, had heard that the Hilton in Huston has a carpet that was make from one of her quilts.


she filed suit and won over copyright infringement.

it was a really important case as far as quilt artists are concerned because her quilt was made with 3rd party fabrics, and most of us do, and since the 3rd party fabric already has a copyright further copyrighting doesn't apply.

i started making my own fabric when i heard about this lawsuit a few years back.

Me too. My daughter and I went to the Nelson Atkins Museum and I was looking at everything from floor tile, to the designs on other things.
