I am 29 now but started about 5-6 years ago. Sometimes I take some stuff to do at work by hand and when people ask me what I am doing I tell them making blocks for a quilt and they say" aren't you too young to quilt?" I say no!!

I started getting interested in quilting when I saw the work of a neighbor of mine. I bought one of her machine quilted quilts and she encouraged me to make a quilt of my own. I was 28 or 29 at the time and going to college, so not much time available. That's still true with kids 9 and 11. But I love the creative process and I'm still quilting at 49. Does that make me old?

BTW I am 40 in my avatar pic.

I just turned 41 but have been quilting for a few years. But, my boys keep me feeling like Im 25. They are 22 and 19. Sometimes they tell me that I dont seem like their mom. lol they laugh when they say it so Im guessing that is a good thing. lol

Well, sorry I can't help either since I'm 43 but I can say I've seen all ages when I go to a show, and even quite a few men too. DH went with me 2 years ago to the sewing expo here in Cleveland and while he was complaining at first about going (since I had no one to go with and didn't want to go alone and really wanted to go) he humored me and ended up having the time of his life. Then the kids call me a grandma in waiting. I could understand why since I crochet, knit and now quilt.

I have to chuckle about the comments that men make about quilting. My DH says that when ever I start talking quilting to him, he gets to diagram a pool shot for me. Then we will each have glazed over eyes! I figure if he gets to go shoot on a pool league and spend that money every week, I get to go fabric shopping, right?
