I need advice please, asap. I am quilting a baby quilt I pieced. I quilted each pinwheel with a continuous stitch. However, how can I quilt the border or flying geese continuous or will have I have to quilt inside and outside of each, cutting my threads each time?[ATTACH=CONFIG]606283[/ATTACH]I usually do Prairie Points, but decided to try flying geese, on this one.
Also, the outer border is 3 inches wide. I will put a binding so it will end up about 2 1/2 inches finished. Do I need to quilt the outer border? What about quilting in that white corner?( that I probably didn't do like you all might have) Looking at it here, I should have stopped my first border at the end of the pinwheels and made a big square, like I stopped my first border on the sides.... I am fairly new so excuse all my questions.....

I would use my rulers and ruler foot to quilt 1 straight line along the V of the coloured triangle, do another V halfway down, and then straight stitch the top of the triangle and on to the next one. I would then repeat it in the white triangles. If you don’t have a ruler foot and ruler, you can still do it but you would need to go around the quilt 3 times. There is nothing wrong with just SITD the seam lines if you are a beginner.

hopefully this pic will show, I did straight lines in the triangles and loved the look. should have done more in the aboriginal prints though.

You could do continuous arcs like this: look at the green/pink dotted goose triangle. Start at the point on the right side of the pic, arc through the white to meet the lowest green point, then through the green back to where you started. Now arc up through the green to the top point, and down through the white back to the starting point. Next arc over through the white to the right point on the dark green goose and repeat.

I do think you need quilting in the outer border, especially if this is a baby quilt, which will get a lot of washing. You could do straight lines as NativeTexan showed ... but you wouldn't have to do it so densely. Somthing like this:

This is almost how I quilted the corners, except I started the line below the corner points of the geese and went down to the white outer point.
