Hi, I just bought a cricut machine. I bought it mainly for the applications that can be cut out faster. Please tell me if anyone knows how many pieces of material to use and how large. Has any one cut out shapes like apples, oranges, etc. or children's things they like. I bought this at Walmart and it was on sale. It is the same one they advertise on TV. It was a lot less at Walmart than other places and less than what was on tv price. Please advise as how many designs are possible and do you have to buy the cartridges for each design? teddy bears, etc. Thanks to everyone who quilts....

My sister has one , has had it for a few years. She has bought a bunch of cartridges. She recently found out that with the smaller one Cricut machine) you cannot use all the cut outs on the cartridges :hunf: She gets hers from Joanns when they are on sale . She is not a happy camper , as no where does it say not all cut outs will work . you don't find that out until you try to make them and nothing happens

Sorry, forget to answer the question The fabric size will be determined by the mat size that you are using . As for how many layers of fabric , I would think only one as the mats are sticky and they hold the fabric/paper from shifting as it cuts

Thanks for the info. I will try this today when I get home from work. I am currently helping out at the church school today. I look forward to making a quilt with this machine. I want to make one that is "Footprints in the Sand". I found a poem that my oldest grandchild gave me. I have cut out the red footprint and placed it on a block that is solid sandy tan color. I am going to cut out the letters or embroidery the words on blocks below the footprint. Thanks again for the information. Please let me know if you have any other information regarding this machine.. I Love your quilt with the photos.. How did you make this?

They advertise cutting fabric with it on their infomercial. I don't know anyone who's tried it though.
