Flannel makes a very cozy "binkie". Wash your fabrics first, some flannel shrinks alot.

I did a disappearing nine patch and then quilted it with pearl cotton and just did a big running stitch about 1/2 inch in and
it really turned out nice. I did it for my grandsons, in blue, brown, green and cream, it was nice to not make it too babyish.
and made it a little bigger than a crib quilt. Good luck with it.

My advice: Wash it TWICE, especially if it's meant to be washed again and again. Even the best flannel shrinks ALOT. And cheap flannel never stops shrinking.

I always have to move my needle one or two spot over to get a scant 1/4" when piecing flannel.

I don't know how 'advanced' your sewing skills are, as it's a little tricky to work with, but Minkee is really, really soft! Perhaps others could speak to this.

Sorry, just reread you title. Duh to me!

Oh but flannel on the front and minky on the back makes such a cozy quilt for a little one! minky can be tricky though.

Thanks to all of you. Now I just need to figure out how to do a big running stitch!

Do a search for "big stitch" or utility quilting.
