I am a 5th grade teacher in Sidney, NY. We just returned to school today, after a week out for the flood disaster here in town. While most of my students are able to remain in their homes, several have been displaced. Some of these were similarly affected by the floods of 2006.
In order to show support and accomplish a common goal, my study hall classes will be tracing, cutting, and then sewing 5" squares to sew together to make quilts for their classmates who were flooded. I'm hoping that I'll have enough interest to get several quilts done. What do you think?

Wouldn't they be a great Christmas present?

I think you are teaching so much more than a normal class learns. Compassion for others, generosity, kindness....
Thank you for teaching young people the things that are so important.

I think it's a great idea and if you don't get enough interest or need more squares you can always come here. People are always asking for such donations on the free page. It's how I find where my donations go!
