I mentioned in another thread that a needle went right through my finger, including the nail when I was a teenager. Never forgot the lesson to keep my fingers away from the pressure foot area. Instead I use a stilletto, thang or wahtever is handy by the machine.

Oh great. Now I have to go outside, turn around three times and spit, or I'll end up a member of the club. And I'm not drinking the water, either!

So far that hasn't happened to me - hope it never does. Can't imagine trying to get my finger out.

I did the same posted for sympathy in dairies. I had only said that day on here I had heard it was painful. I now know it is and plenty of blood but none on the fabric.

I joined the club before I became a quilter. Was working on a white satin costume at the time. Luckily I didn't get any blood on it

Who would have thought a current tetanus shot is required to be a quilter...... this is why I hand quilt and needle turn appliqué. I am afraid of my machine!

I did this once-many years ago. The funny thing was that my roommate was a vet student and she had no idea how to help me. We disassembled the needle mechanism. Her brother took me to the health center. The nurse took one look and kinda had to laugh and said the needle has to be reversed and she took hold and pulled it back out. Boy, did that hurt. However, I had much to be thankful for. The needle missed my fingernail and the bone. But, I did need a tetnus shot. Thus far, I've never done that again-I remember the pain! Hope you heal soon.
